Wishing all a very Happy and Bright Diwali . This festive season if you are looking to make super easy homemade snacks like “Chivda” then you’re in the right place.
This is an extremely simple snack to make if you’re looking for something light filled with nuts and raisins. The crunch is overwhelming satisfying for people, like me who can’t live without eating a crunchy snack!
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons of canola oil ( ant other preferable)
- 1 box of rice crispy cereal
- 4 garlic cloves chopped
- 3-6 Curry leaves roughly chopped
- 2-3 green chilis chopped
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
- 2 teaspoons refined sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt or as per taste
- 1 cup of roasted peanuts (skin on if possible)
- 1 cup roasted lightly salted cashews,
- 1/4 cup of golden raisins
- 1 cup of sev (readymade gram flour thin noodles)
Instructions
- In a large pot, start by heating the oil and adding the mustard seeds, garlic cloves, curry leaves, cilantro and green chilies. Sauté it for 2-3 mins on medium to low flame.
- Add in turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and sugar, dry fruits, raisins. Roast the peanuts cashew, golden raisins in the dry seasoning for about 2-3 mins (until golden brown).
- Once all the ingredients are well sautéed, add in the rice crispy cereal and mix well on low heat for 2-3 mins.
- Mix in the Sev (chickpea crispy noodles)to the rice crispy cereal mixture. It should be well coated with the seasonings. Turn off the heat. Let it sit for 5 minutes and then adjust the taste. The aroma and the crunch is one mouthful of flavor and satisfaction.Â
