Sabudana Khicdi ( Tapioca & roasted peanuts)

by thecurrytheory

Tapioca (Sabudana) wouldn’t be my first choice for breakfast if it was made any other way than this spicy, sweet, savory goodness!

Oh! I miss those good old days spent at my Uncle’s place in Pune, India every year for summer vacation. It was a splendid time with my cousins. My mom is from Pune so all her 6 siblings and their families would gather in for a week of pure fun/chaos. haha! I wouldn’t trade any of it.

Sabudana (Tapioca) Khicdi is a very popular dish in India, especially in the Hindu religion where they eat this during fasting as it keeps them full for the whole day of fast. There are so many ways to make this dish , but the way my Uncle Pradeep made it, is my favorite way. Very simple yet so addictive.

I must have had his Sabudana Khicdi maybe once when I was 14-15 yrs old, that’s a long time ago but I still remember how it tasted. Well, let’s try and recreate that goodness. Also a fun fact of this dish is that it’s Gluten-free, Vegan dish (if you take out Ghee and add nut oil or any oil).
